A 70-year-old Illinois man whose car was found wrecked in La Quinta was arrested on suspicion of leaving the scene of an accident and driving under the influence, police said.

Police got a report of a possible drunken driver at about 11:55 p.m. on Wednesday Jan. 23, south of Avenue 54 on the roundabout at Jefferson and Avenue 52.
Responding officers found an empty vehicle that apparently hit a curb and had two flat tires, sheriff’s Sgt. Ben Ramirez said.
Shortly after 1 a.m., police found Kenneth Wysoglad of Park Ridge, Ill., on PGA Boulevard and arrested him, Ramirez said, adding that Wysoglad was booked at the county jail in Indio on $2,500 bail, according to jail records.
