Drugged driver crashes her way through Indian Wells

A Colorado woman who was allegedly driving under the influence plowed into a large water fountain this morning in Indian Wells, officials reported.

An alert witness called 911 and followed 65-year-old Holly Russell after she left the scene of the crash at about 9 a.m. near Highway 111 and Indian Wells Lane.

As the witness was following Russell, the suspected inebriated woman crashed into another car and kept driving towards La Quinta on Highway 111.

According to a Riverside County Sheriff’s report, officers were able to locate Russell and pulled her over.

The officer determined Russell was under the influence of prescription medicine and she was arrested and booked into the Riverside County Jail in Indio on charges of driving under the influence and hit and run, Sgt. Adams stated.

Significant property damage occured as a result of the collisions, however, there were no injuries reported.
