Firefighters responding to a fire alarm at an Eastvale home discovered close to 1,000 marijuana plants and 40 pounds of processed marijuana — all carrying a street value of more than $900,000, the Sheriff’s Department said today.

Deputies were dispatched to the home in the 6500 block of Gladiola Street at 12:05 p.m. Saturday to assist the fire department, which arrived for a fire alarm from a second floor bedroom, according to a department statement.

Once firefighters received no answer at the door, they entered the home through a second floor window and discovered a ”large scale marijuana operation,” according to the statement.

At 8:30 p.m Saturday, deputies served a search warrant and discovered the entire home had been transformed into a large scale marijuana operation.

Deputies removed approximately 826 mature marijuana plants, 170 immature plants and 40 pounds of processed marijuana, according to the statement.

Southern California Edison officials found electricity was being diverted from the home’s meter causing a serious fire hazard.

Edison estimated the theft of utilities was more than $31,000 per month, according to the statement.

Riverside County sheriff’s detectives asked anyone with information to call them at 951-955-2600.
