Palm Springs: Suspicious device deemed a hoax

An apparent bomb was found on a Palm Springs roadway today, but a bomb squad determined it to be a hoax.

The device was spotted on San Rafael Drive at 10:07 a.m., Palm Springs police Sgt. Mike Kovaleff said.

Members of the Riverside County sheriff’s bomb squad were sent to the street, between Avenida Caballeros and Hermosa Drive, to investigate. The stretch of San Rafael Drive was closed off to traffic, Kovaleff said.

The bomb experts concluded it was a ”hoax device,” Kovaleff said, and the investigation was ongoing.
