A possible robbery that began Monday night at the Denny’s in Temecula ended dramatically when the driver of a black sedan, followed by a white pickup truck and at least a half dozen patrol cars, crashed on the southbound I-15 on-ramp at California Oaks Rd. in Murrieta.
Riverside County Sheriff’s deputy Albert Martinez confirmed that police were searching for a robbery suspect, but added that information was still being collected.
The incident occurred shortly before 8 p.m.
Initial unconfirmed radio reports suggested that the robbery may have been a drug deal gone bad, leading to a car chase.
A suspect was taken into custody at the scene of the crash, according to SWRNN reporter Joe Fanaselle.
