Man seriously injured after being hit by car, driver sought

San Diego police were on the lookout today for the driver of a small white sedan involved in a hit-and-run crash that sent a 21-year-old man to the hospital with a lacerated liver.

The man was intoxicated and walking south in the northbound lanes of Carmel Mountain Road at Rancho Carmel Drive about 7:40 p.m. Monday when he was struck, according to San Diego police Officer Dino Delimitros.

The driver of the small white sedan continued driving north, he said in a statement.
