Bomb threat locks down middle school in Palm Springs

Police evacuated and locked down Raymond Cree Middle School today to investigate a report of an explosive device in a classroom.

The threat was reported around 12:45 p.m. at the school, 1011 E. Vista Chino, according to Palm Springs police spokesman Mike Kovaleff.

“An unknown subject called the school and threatened that there was an explosive device placed in a classroom,” he said.

Students and staff went outside to the athletic fields, and police started searching the classrooms, Kovaleff said.

No explosive devices were found as of 2:15 p.m.
