Hiker grows ill, rescued near Rancho Mirage

A female hiker who complained of nausea and dehydration was rescued from a trail by firefighters today.

The Riverside County Fire Department was contacted about 10:30 a.m. regarding the hiker, who was on the Bump and Grind Trail above Rancho Mirage.

Firefighters reached her and drove her down from the trail, fire department spokeswoman Melody Hendrickson said.

The woman was transported to a local hospital in stable condition, Hendrickson said.
