The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in the Inland Empire rose 6.1 cents today, the largest daily increase since Oct. 6, to $3.925, the highest amount since Nov. 6.

The average price in Riverside and San Bernardino counties is 21.4 cents more than one week ago, 33.7 cents higher than one month ago and 15.9 cents greater than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price has increased seven of the last eight days, rising 22.5 cents over that span, including 5.9 cents on Friday.

The increasing prices are the result of high oil prices, Middle East tension, local refinery incidents, maintenance at refineries reducing supplies and investors shifting their money into the gasoline market “earlier and earlier,” according to Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
