A vehicle struck a utility pole in Hemet and sparked a power outage that initially affected more than 1,600 customers and businesses today, a Southern California Edison spokeswoman said. 
By midday, crews restored power to most of those affected by the outage, and the utility expected to finish the job by midnight.
As of noon, 368 customers and businesses were still without electricity. SC Edison spokeswoman Caroline Aoyagi said
The single-vehicle wreck occured around 6:30 a.m. at Buena Vista Street and Fruitvale Avenue, the Hemet Police Department reported.
Details about any injuries or how the crash unfolded were not released by police.
No one was arrested, but police officers said the crash was under investigation.
