Temecula Valley Museum to tell the story of jazz icon Nina Simone

Residents are invited to watch an important time in history relived on the stage with the premiere performance of “On My Own Terms: A Nina Simone Story” planned for 7 p.m. on Feb. 21 at the Temecula Valley Museum.

In celebration of Black History Month, the program will explore the life of jazz singer and “High Priestess of Soul,” her role in the Civil Rights Movement and how her music became highly influential in the fight for equal rights in America.

Poet and professional actress E.P. McKnight, the author of “On My Own Terms,” will bring Simone’s story to life on the stage.

The play is directed by John McDonald, founder of the American Science Theater.

Admission is $5.
