Date Festival organizers announce boxing champ to serve as grand marshal of parade

Coachella Valley native and WBO welterweight boxing champion Tim Bradley Jr. will be grand marshal of the Riverside County Fair & National Date Festival President’s Day Parade, it was announced today.

The 67th annual county fair and date festival is set for Feb. 15-24 at the county fairgrounds in Indio, and the parade is set for 9 a.m. on Feb 18.

Bradley, a Cathedral City High School alumnus, is the current WBO welterweight champion and former WBO and two-time WBC light-welterweight champion.

In June, he defeated Manny Pacquiao, becoming the first to do so since 2005.
