A Costa Mesa home invasion robbery today left one man in a hospital with bruised ribs.
A man with a gun attacked two men in a home in the 800 block of Victoria Street, Costa Mesa police Sgt. Zack Hoferitza said. Police were alerted to the home invasion about 7 a.m.
“We believe the suspect knew the victims,” Hoferitza said. “We’re trying to determine the connection between the suspect and the victims.”
The suspect, armed with a revolver, “manhandled” one of the victims and put a pillow over his face while he bound the other victim with a coat hanger, Hoferitza said.
The other victim, who was kicked in the ribs, convinced his attacker that he was having trouble breathing with his arms bound behind his back.
After his captor bound him with his arms in front of him, he managed to get loose, run away and call for help, Hoferitza said.
Police do not know how much money was taken, the sergeant said.
