A trash can next to a La Jolla daycare center caught fire early today but no one was hurt and the business appeared to have little damage, authorities said.
The fire just outside the La Jolla Children’s Learning Lab at 10068 Pacific Heights Boulevard was reported at 3:03 a.m., according to a San Diego fire-rescue dispatcher.
Flames initially appeared to be coming from inside the daycare’s administration building but then crews found the fire burning in a trash can at the back of the center, she said.
Damage was estimated at $2,500.
San Diego’s Metro Arson Strike Team was investigating.
