The stage will soon be set for Chaparral High School’s 2013 musical “Legally Blonde.”

Based on the book and movie of the same name, “Legally Blonde: The Musical” tells the story of perennially perky Elle Woods — a girl who loves to be pampered and shop for the latest all-pink outfits and matching handbags.

But don’t let this seemingly ditsy fashionista fool you, this sorority sister is smarter than she seems and doesn’t take “no” for an answer.

For the past two years, Chaparral’s musicals — “Little Shop of Horrors” in 2011 and “The WIZ” in 2012 — have played to sold-out audiences.

Each year, the campus musicals get bigger and bigger.

This show is no exception, according to Chaparral High School drama teacher and director Chris Irvin: “With a cast of 43, the talent of these performers is exceptional.”

Among the principal cast are Avalon Penrose as Elle Woods; James Bowen as Emmett; Samuel Irvin as Warner Huntington III; Maddy Francis as Paulette; Arthur Sauls as Professor Callahan; Madi Burke as Enid Hoopes; Cheyne Hafner as Vivienne; Danielle Caha as Brooke Wyndham; Danielle Baumann as Margot; Chelsea Gray as Serena; and Alexis Brown as Pilar.

The show hits the stage at 7 p.m. on Feb. 21-22 and Mar. 1 and at 2 p.m. on Feb. 23 and Mar. 2.

Tickets are $12 general admission; $10 for all students, military, and seniors 55 years and older.

Performances take place in the school’s Performing Arts Center located at 27215 Nicolas Road in Temecula.

Tickets are available at the door or during school business hours from the bookkeeping office.
