An “elderly” man was driving about 10:50 a.m., on Tuesday Feb. 5 when the bag full of valuables fell out of the vehicle’s open rear hatch, Fountain Valley police Sgt. Matt Sheppard said.

The victim at the time was driving east on Slater Avenue, making a north turn on Brookhurst Street when it is suspected the bag fell out of the vehicle, Sheppard said.

A witness told police that someone in a gold, four-door passenger vehicle stopped in front of the bag, Sheppard said.

Another witness told police a blue, four-door passenger vehicle stopped next to the bag, the driver got out and picked up the bag before driving away north on Brookhurst, Sheppard said.

The driver is a black man about 40 to 50 years old, the sergeant said.

Anyone with information was asked to call Fountain Valley police at 714-593-4485.
