Road reopens on I-15 at Mountain Pass

The freeway between San Diego and Las Vegas was closed due to snow and ice for four hours today, but reopened to traffic just after 10 a.m.

Beginning at 6 a.m., cars began crashing on Interstate 15 at Mountain Pass, about 35 miles west of the Nevada state line.

Gates were closed to Nevada-bound traffic at Baker, and just inside the California-Nevada line.

CHP officers stood guard at ramps to prevent trespassing, officers reported. 

North of Los Angeles, the Golden State (5) Freeway was closed by snow Friday night, when cars began slipping. Caltrans crews cleared the road and reopened it at 12:45 a.m.
