A 21-year-old man was stabbed in the chest during a fight with two other men in the Gaslamp Quarter early today, a police officer said.
The wounded man was taken to a hospital and officers arrested one of the alleged assailants after the fight broke out, shortly before 2 a.m. at Fifth Avenue and J Street, according to San Diego police Officer David Stafford.
The other suspect got away, and was last seen running south on Fifth Avenue, Stafford said.
Police described him as black, and about 5-feet-8 with dreadlocks.
