Darrin Kimberlin was westbound on Avenue 58 around 2:30 a.m. when his vehicle veered off the road near Jefferson Street and struck some road signs, sheriff’s Sgt. Randy Vasquez said.

“Kimberlin was uninjured, and was found asleep in the driver’s seat,” Vasquez said.

Kimberlin, who allegedly showed signs of being under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, was transported to a hospital as a precaution, then booked into the county jail in Indio, the sergeant said.

He posted a $5,000 bond and was assigned an April 10 arraignment date at the Larson Justice Center in Indio, according to jail records.
