Ice cream vendor hit and killed while crossing street in Los Angeles

An ice cream vendor in his 60′s was struck by a pickup truck and killed as he pushed a cart in Sun Valley last night.

The man was struck around 7:25 p.m., on Monday Feb. 11 by a Ford Ranger headed east on Tuxford Street near Glenoaks Boulevard, said Lt. David Ferry of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Traffic Division.

The vendor was crossing to the north side of Tuxford Street, Ferry said.

“He was outside the crosswalk, illegally in the roadway pushing a concession cart,” Ferry said of the vendor, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man driving the Ranger stopped to render aid and was not cited or arrested, Ferry said.
