In a letter to parents, Interim Principal Courtney Rizzo said that teacher Ned Walker was removed from campus Monday morning for being in possession of a gun.

Walker teaches seventh- and eighth-grade English, according to the school’s website.

“I understand that you may want more information but due to the fact that this is an active investigation, we are not at liberty to release any additional information or details,” Rizzo wrote. “Our focus is to continue to ensure that our students are safe, the learning process goes on as usual, and we work with the proper authorities.”

At a 10 a.m. press conference, San Diego Unified Police Chief Rueben Littlejohn was expected to discuss the arrest.
