It happened on the tracks in the median of the Glenn Anderson (105) Freeway near Wilmington Avenue shortly after 11 a.m., Rick Jager of Metro said.

A 49-year-old man jumped in front of the westbound train as it approached the station and he suffered injuries in the fall but was not hit by the train, as was first thought, Jager said.

Paramedics took the man to a hospital, but no condition was immediately available, county fire Inspector Brian Riley said.

Train service was provided on a “single track” basis for about an hour before it returned to normal, Jager said.
