An investigation is underway in the death of a Lake Elsinore man, it was learned today.
According to a Riverside County Sheriff’s Department report, officers with the Lake Elsinore Police Department were called to the scene of an “unattended death” at about 5:38 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 15 in the 1000 block of Dolly Drive in Lake Elsinore.
“Upon arrival, officers found a male who’d sustained traumatic injury to his body. Emergency medical personnel were summoned to the scene to render aid, however, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene,” said Sgt. Jeff Buompensiero.
Officials identified the victim as George Alongi, 77, of Lake Elsinore.
Investigators from the Lake Elsinore Police Department and the Riverside Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit were notified and assumed the investigation.
The cause of death is not known at this time.
An autopsy is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 18.
