People stuck in elevators after power goes out in Westwood

Power failed in portions of the Westside today, trapping an unknown number of people in elevators in at least one building.

Firefighters reported that a 25-story high-rise at 10590 Wilshire Boulevard in Westwood lost power, and people were rescued from stuck elevators.

Records indicate that building is the Westholme Condominium tower.

An exact count of rescue calls was not immediately available from firefighters.

The outage was reported at 9:48 a.m.

Buildings in West Los Angeles, several miles from that location, suffered a momentary power loss as well.

Some traffic lights began blinking before they were reset, police said.
