A 57-year-old woman was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after she crashed her luxury SUV into a palm tree in La Quinta, a police sergeant said today.
The crash was reported at 5:28 p.m. Saturday at Via Puerta Azul and Madison Street, said La Quinta police Sgt. Robert Castro.
Susan Merchant Pressler, of La Quinta was driving her white, Acura MDX southbound on Madison Street “when she failed to negotiate the turn into the entrance of the Puerta Azul housing complex and collided with the palm tree,” Castro said.
She was transported to a hospital for treatment of moderate injuries, he said.
She was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, Castro said, but was later released due to her injuries with charges to be filed with the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office.
