An 11-year-old Las Vegas boy playing hide-and-seek at a Palm Springs softball field hid under a trailer and was run over when the driver started pulling away, a sergeant said today.
Police rushed to the field at Sunrise Park near Barista Road and Pavillion Way after receiving a call at 3:38 p.m., Sunday Feb. 17.
The boy hid under the empty utility trailer for several minutes when the driver of the pickup truck that towed the trailer entered his vehicle, Palm Springs police Sgt. Mike Kovaleff said.
A set of trailer tires ran over the boy, who was later sent to an area hospital for his injuries, Kovaleff said.
The boy’s medical condition was not immediately known but Kovaleff said the driver was not cited nor arrested.
The trailer was parked at the softball field to help with the set-up of an event, Kovaleff said.
