The annual Firehouse World conference on firefighting is scheduled to open a four-day run at the San Diego Convention Center today.
First day topics include command and tactical simulations, high-rise firefighting, and tactical use of aerial resources.
Sessions will be held later on California’s wildland-urban interface, emergency procedures for electric and hybrid vehicles, and responses to mass shootings and fires at sites with active shooters, using military assets and the response to the Escondido bomb house incident in 2010.
Firefighting and emergency medical equipment will be on display in the exhibit halls.
About 5,000 people are expected to attend, according to convention center officials.
