Woman arrested after hitting and killing man while allegedly drunk in Pacific Beach

A 57-year-old San Diego man who was struck by a suspected drunken driver while crossing a Pacific Beach street over the weekend has died, according to authorities.

Agustin R. Martinez was struck as he crossed Mission Bay Drive at Damon Drive at about 10:20 p.m. on Saturday, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Martinez was taken to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla where he was diagnosed with multiple injuries and later pronounced brain dead.

He died at 8:40 p.m., on Sunday Feb. 17, according to the Medical Examiner’s Office.

A 54-year-old woman, driving a 2006 Volkswagen Beetle, was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving following the crash, according to San Diego police Officer David Stafford.

The woman’s 13-year-old son was a passenger, according to Stafford.
