Disneyland and California Adventure have quietly stopped offering deep discounts to Southern California residents, it was reported today.
The runaway popularity of the new Cars Land attraction and other improvements at California Adventure have swollen attendance at both parks. And that’s rewarding the Walt Disney Company’s recent $1 billion investment there, the Orange County Register reported.
Discounts for residents of zip codes south of the Tehachapi Mountains are a thing of the past this year. Promotions like 2-for-1 tickets and deeply- discounted park “hopper” tickets are no longer offered, the newspaper reported.
The company’s spokeswoman told the Register that Disney officials “regularly evaluate our offerings in the local market and make decisions based on our business needs.”
A one-day adult ticket for both parks now costs $125 for Californians and tourists alike, although kids down to age three get a $6 break.
On the web and at the parks, Disney offers guests the opportunity to “get special vacation financing” by applying for a Disney credit card.

At $125 per person, we won’t be going as often. The discounts made a big difference for us So Cal residents. My family has gone at least twice a year since the park opened. That won’t be happening anymore. What a shame.
Lots of us are anti Disney now. I won’t step foot on any of their properties!
We won’t be going after all either. We have a special needs son who can’t get on all the rides and we still would have to pay full price.
Most ridiculous pricing ever! The food is too expensive, the rides are just not that great…my family of five won’t be paying the price for this over-priced over-rated boonswoggle!
Boo hoo, I guess I won’t be going there anymore!
Lol Disney doesnt need you anymore < their profits are up so screw Californias!!!! My money worth to much to waste on your boring park. Who cares greed balls.
toooooo much money for tickets. On a fixed income you can’t afford to go. I went to the first year it opened, and for a few years after the e tickets disappeared. Now its way out of our league and our grandchildren league.
Yup, way out of our price range.. and California Adventure still stinks… 2 good rides and the rest is awful. Walt would be ashamed.
It’s free market economics. They can charge what ever they want. It’s their right! But I won’t due business with the RAT anymore. That’s MY right!
Disneyland is way overrated anyway.
If we all so cals stop going I bet they will sing a different tune. BOYCOTT!!!!!
I think Walt is rolling over in his grave! He wanted everyone to be able to visit Disneyland. I visited Disneyland atleast 2-3 times a year as a kid and really bougth into the whole “magic” of Disneland. I even worked as a Seasonal Cast Member as a teenager and spent almost every day there during the summers and to this day, still love Disneyland. Over the years I have seen many little girls rendered speechless at the sight of their favorite Princess, and that is truly a special moment. I remember family members coming to visit us in California, and the first place they wanted to see was “Disneyland”. However because of the outrageous pricing my own child hasn’t been to Disneyland as many times as I did as a child. I think that some of that magic is now being lost because somewhere along the road they have decided that money is more important than their customers. Don’t get me wrong, I understand that as a business they need to make money, but come on. Every child should be able to experience the “magic” of Disney.
Yeah…$125 bucks per person to stand in line behind people who haven’t bathed in a few days and wait an hour for a two minue ride…no thanks!
Disneyland ruined my birthday by overselling and it was way too crowded so we got a refund and left. Never went back. Boo to you, Disney.
Wow! at $125 a person my family wont be going anymore either. Because of the economy we hadn’t gone much this last year anyways, but had hoped to go this summer. I guess not! My kids dont like disneyland much anyways, lines are too long, people are grumpy and rude and the rides are not that exciting anyways. I guess we will spend our money at other parks. Too bad, Bye Bye Disney I hope people of California boycott!
Knotts Berry Farm just down the road has all year passes for less than a one day ticket to Disney. Knotts soak city, Halloween Haunt discounts and more for less than $100.00.
I just went there three weeks ago. It cost $546 for two day park hopper tickets for one adult and two nine year olds. We were celebrating a birthday and this is what my daughter wanted instead of a big party. Blew me away how much the tickets cost. All I could think was how do they expect families to afford to come here. I love Disneyland and so does my daughter but unfortunately because of pricing will only go about once every couple of years.
Off topic.. but I remember we could walk “all around” Knotts Berry Farm for free as there was no fence. You could sit up on top of the train tunnel and smoke. Then all those dam hippies began squatting and they put up a fence. Lets see, where is my fawn skin jacket with the long fringe? (-’
