A Cathedral City man has been arrested on charges stemming from an alleged domestic violence incident, it was reported today.
Clarence Davis, Jr., 31, was taken into custody after his ex-wife told police he had driven her to a remote area of the desert, pointed a gun at her and threatened to harm her and her children.
According to a Riverside County Sheriff’s Department report, the incident occurred at about 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 19 in the unincorporated open desert near Pierson Boulevard, outside of Desert Hot Springs.
“The suspect then demanded money from the victim and then drove her to various locations in Desert Hot Springs. Ultimately, the suspect stole an undisclosed amount of money from the victim,” Sgt. Andrew Nielsen said in the report.
Investigators from the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station responded to assist with the investigation.
A search warrant was obtained for Davis’ residence in Cathedral City.
Due to the nature of the allegations, the Palm Springs Police/ Cathedral City Police Consolidated SWAT team served the search warrant for investigators on Wednesday, Feb. 20, Nielsen said.
Two firearms were seized as evidence during the subsequent search of the residence, according to Nielsen.
