Police were sent to the Playboy Mansion in Holmby Hills today in response to a call falsely reporting an assault at the location, authorities said.
Officers went to the 10200 block of Charing Cross Road about 6:15 a.m., and were investigating the case as a possible “swatting” hoax, said Officer Cleon Joseph, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesman.
There was no evidence that a crime had occurred there, police said.
Swatting hoaxes — so described because they occasionally generate a SWAT team response — involve prank calls to police reporting a crime in progress at a particular location.
Swatting calls in recent months have sent officers to the homes of celebrities such as Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus.
