A wildland fire blackened up to five acres in Coachella today but was moving a slow rate and has not damaged any structures, a spokeswoman said.
Firefighters received a call at 11:48 a.m. and rushed to the area of Avenue 53 and Fillmore Street, where flames initially charred about two acres of brush, Riverside County Fire spokeswoman Melody Hendrickson said.
A cause behind the fire was under investigation, Hendrickson said. There were no injuries reported.
