Two robbers stormed a local business, attacked an employee and fled in a getaway car, but a Jurupa Valley couple was later arrested in connection with the crime, a sergeant said today.
Sheriff’s deputies received a call at 4:32 p.m. Wednesday about an armed robbery in the 2500 block of Rubidoux Boulevard where two men and a woman
behind the wheel of a Chevrolet Cavalier arrived, Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. Ralph Rico said.
One of the men brandished a gun and demanded money while the second man struck the employee and grabbed his cellular phone.
A partial reading of the Cavalier’s license plate led sheriff’s detectives to get the full plate number and locate its owner to a home in the 5300 block of 37th Street in Jurupa Valley, Rico said.
Detectives obtained a search warrant Friday and arrested German Alejandro Bello, 33, who detectives suspect was one of the robbers, and Erika Orozco, 36, who is believed to be the alleged getaway driver, Rico said.
The couple’s three children were placed into the custody of Child Protective Services.
Bello and Orozco were arrested for suspicion of conspiring to commit an armed robbery and child endangerment, Rico said.
The second robber remained at large. He was described as a Latino in his mid-20s, who is about 6 feet tall and weighs 190 lbs.
Anyone with information about the robbery is encouraged by sheriff’s authorities to call the sheriff’s Jurupa Valley station at 951-955-2600.
