Moreno Valley: Supermarket fire prompts evacuations

Riverside County firefighters evacuated a Moreno Valley supermarket after employees extinguished a fire in the building, a fire department spokeswoman said.

The incident was reported at 5:15 p.m. Saturday at the Food4Less at 24440 Alessandro Boulevard, said Riverside County Fire Department spokeswoman Melody Hendrickson.

The fire was extinguished before firefighters arrived, Hendrickson said.

“Firefighters quickly evacuated employees and guests as there was heavy smoke in the building,” she said. “One employee was treated on scene for smoke inhalation and refused transport.”
