Winning a Best Picture statue may be nice, but “Lincoln” has already won one important Academy Awards honor, an analyst said today.
“Lincoln” has sold more tickets than the other Best Picture nominees, according to studio estimates.
The Disney release has grossed $178.6 million since its release in early November, according to Disney estimates.
That beat out the runner-up, “Django Unchained,” which grossed $158.8 million since its release at Christmas.
Other Best Picture nominees, and their grosses, were “Les Miserables” ($146.7 million), “Argo” ($129.8 million), “Life Of Pi” ($113.5 million), “Silver Linings Playbook” ($107.5 million), “Zero Dark Thirty” ($91.6 million), “Beasts Of The Southern Wild” ($12.5 million) and “Amour” ($5.2 million).
Add that all up, and the Best Pictures nominees together grossed $944,168,600 in estimated ticket sales.
