A local man arrested and charged with the alleged assault of a firefighter on the scene of the Buck Fire that scorched over 2,500 acres in Aug. was sentenced in a Riverside County courtroom to four years and eight months in state prison, it was reported today.
Sage resident Gregory Lance Good was charged with assault with a deadly weapon against a firefighter and interfering with a firefighter.
The charges stem from an incident that took place on Tuesday, Aug. 14, according to Riverside County District Attorney’s office spokesman John Hall.
“Actually, the incident took place on a property adjacent to Mr. Good’s property at about mid-afternoon,” said Hall.
While driving, Good allegedly accelerated and swerved towards a firefighter and ran over his foot, according to Hall.
Several firefighters were witness to the assault.
Good was taken into custody the next day at the evacuation center set up at the Community Recreation Center located at 30875 Rancho Vista Road in Temecula.
Having lost his home in the fire, Good had turned to Red Cross officials manning the evacuation center for support.
The lightning-caused fire scorched over 1800 acres, forced evacuations of nine homes, multiple animals and livestock and damaged three buildings.
