Today is Spay Day USA, an annual observance intended to bring attention to the pet overpopulation problem in the country and to encourage animal population control by altering pets.
Animal Friends of the Valleys is offering half off spay/neuter vouchers to the public from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Feb. 26 at the Southwest Communities Animal Center located at 33751 Mission Trail in Wildomar.
“AFV cared for over 11,000 homeless animals in the shelter last year. In 2012, hundreds of litters of kittens and puppies were surrendered at the shelter. This is a tragedy that will only end when the community becomes involved and realizes they must prevent the births of more unwanted animals by spaying and neutering their pets. We will be offering $25,000 in vouchers,” said Willa Bagwell, executive director of Animal Friends of the Valleys in a released statement.
The vouchers will be valid at the new Animal Friends of the Valleys Low-Cost Spay-Neuter Clinic that will be opening in early April.
