Brent Michael Brodie of Irvine was arrested just before 7 a.m. in stolen vehicle, Irvine police Lt. Julia Engen said. It appears he was living out of the vehicle, she added.

“From all appearances he had nowhere else to stay,” she said.

In the car, police found evidence of a string of burglaries in southern Irvine and in Newport Beach, Engen said.

Investigators suspect Brodie was involved in as many as five residential burglaries and two auto thefts over the past month, Engen said.

Police recovered stolen laptop computers, handbags, jewelry, and a gold watch believed to be worth tens of thousands of dollars.

Anyone with more information was asked to call 949-724-7200.
