The fundraiser is planned for 6 p.m. on March 7 at Wilson Creek Winery, located at 35960 Rancho California Rd. in Temecula.

“We’re continuously committed to helping youth sports programs in the area that provide a positive foundation for kids. Cal Select embodies all that’s good about youth baseball, so we’re more than happy to help,” said Wilson Creek Winery owners Craig and Libby Johns.

Proceeds from the event will support the Murrieta-based Cal Select – a baseball club that features 8U, 9U, 10U and 11U tournament teams – with its traveling and equipment expenses.

Cal Select board member Mike Mowad said that the goal of the club is to work with young athletes who are committed to baseball and looking to advance their games to the next level – high school, college and minor league play and beyond.

Mowad said that the baseball club includes up to 50 players – all hand-picked for their skills, determination and desire to play baseball.

While the club is based in Murrieta, players from surrounding cities such as Temecula are also on board.

Guests of the events can expect an evening that will feature three local comedians, a sit-down dinner, fun auction and raffle items and the opportunity to visit with renowned prankster and former Major League baseball player Jay Johnstone.

Johnstone will be on hand to tell stories, sign autographs and mingle with guests.

Cost of $50 admission includes dinner.
