Firefighters arrived on scene and noticed smoke billowing from the residence.

A person at the home was able to escape the home before fire crews arrived.

The fire was knocked down in a matter of minutes.

Investigators determined the cause of the fire was a cigarette that caught a bed on fire and spread to other items in the room, Murrieta Fire Department spokesman Matt Corelli stated.

Damage is estimated at $20,000.
