A rash of several serious car crashes in Temecula along the Rancho California Road corridor over the past few months has prompted stepped up police patrols, according to a statement by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
“In response to these traffic collisions and requests for the citizens of the community regarding speeding and other traffic violations, officers from the city of Temecula Police Department Traffic Division conducted a high visibility traffic enforcement detail on Rancho California Road,” said Sgt. John Magnan.

During the operation, 53 citations were issued for violations that ranged from speeding to red light infractions, Magnan said.
One misdemeanor arrest was made for a commercial driving violation and one misdemeanor arrest was made for driving under the influence of alcohol.
“The goal of this operation was to make motorists more aware of the rules of the road and to promote safe driving. This program is scheduled to run throughout the year on various roadways within the city of Temecula,” Magnan said.
