Thomas Phillip Brown, 68, was arrested about 2 a.m. at Hampton Inn in Branson, where he and his wife had recently moved. Marilyn Brown, 63, was found shot to death on Sunday at another Branson hotel where the couple were staying, according to a statement from Branson police.

A police officer saw Brown’s SUV at the hotel, and police found Brown and arrested him in a hotel room.

They found a gun in the room, and tests are being done to determine if it’s the murder weapon, according to the statement.

Police said the couple had recently relocated to Branson from Palm Springs, a move Thomas Brown was unhappy about.

The couple were displaced from the residence where they planned to live — why was unclear — and had to stay in motels, police said.

The Browns checked into the Ramada Resort and Conference Center in Branson last Thursday.

On Sunday afternoon, motel staff found Marilyn Brown dead in her bed of an apparent gunshot wound, according to police, who said there were no signs of a struggle.

The family pet, the couple’s SUV and Thomas Brown’s possessions were gone, according to police.

Palm Springs police Sgt. Mike Kovaleff said his department was in contact with Branson police about the case.

Police said Brown would be transported to Taney County Jail in Forsyth, Mo.
