A toddler suffered burns to more than 50 percent of his body in a fire that damaged a Jurupa Valley home this afternoon.
The blaze was reported at 3:30 p.m. in the 4300 block of Opal Street, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
Crews arrived to find the attic of an 800-square-foot home in flames, along with a car parked in the yard and a detached garage, a fire department spokeswoman said.
Sheriff’s officials said a 1-year-old boy in the house suffered second- and third-degree burns. He was rushed to a burn trauma facility in critical condition.
No other injuries were reported.
Four engine crews and a truck company had the blaze fully contained by 4 p.m., according to department officials.
