Ten motorists were arrested on suspicion of drunken driving and 18 vehicles were towed during an overnight DUI/driver’s license checkpoint in Moreno Valley, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said today.
The checkpoint at Frederick Street and Sunnymead Boulevard began at 9:30 p.m. Friday and ended today at 3:30 a.m., according to a department statement.
During the checkpoint 21 citations were issued for unlicensed drivers, 10 citations for suspended driver’s license and 42 citations for vehicle code violations, according to the statement.

I will never understand the folks that say this is a waste of tax payer money, its an infringement on our rights etc. If these check points only get one DUI, that possibly saved a whole family being hit and killed Friday night. I do not care about my taxes or my rights if they get the drunks, under influence, registration, insurance and drivers license violations, wanted paroles, vehicle violations.
73 Citations, and 10 drivers for DUI, 18 vehicles impounded. I believe these stops pay for themselves and I am not put out in anyway, or feel its a violation of my rights to stop for 3 minutes and show my ID, insurance and registration. I resent the fact that so many drive around without any of this and its not fair to those of us who do take responsibility and have all of our proper paperwork and are not driving drunk.
You are notifed in the paper a week prior of where and when the check points will be if you plan on getting that drunk and driving……………just saying
Whatever….it is a violation of my right to drive and not to have to wait in a line and be questioned when I have never drank in my life….normally a police officer needs to have witnessed something to make them suspect to pull someone over. This is a violation of my right and I don’t want to wait in a line when anytime I see a drunk driver I call the police. The Moreno Valley police department needs to start patrolling our neighborhoods that have gone to the hoods in the past few years….they don’t seem to care…they told me to buy my own security camera….really start patrolling our streets and not waiting for cars to drive up to your check point !!!!
Hey dummy….read what your license is! Its a PRIVILEGE….not a RIGHT! So, yes, by getting a drivers license, you surrender your RIGHTS to checkpoints and other law enforcement operations. So,if you dont like it, turn in your license and walk! If it was a RIGHT to drive, the DMV couldnt take away your license for ANYTHING! So, if you dont believe me, go to the DMV and ask them if im right….they will tell you I am! The RIGHT to drive means you dont need a license! Again, driving is a PRIVILEGE, NOT A RIGHT!
Ummmm……You have no RIGHT to drive….its a PRIVILEGE!!! I learned that in the 7th grade!Read the DMV info on possessing a drivers license. By getting a drivers license, you give up your RIGHTS to all law enforcement road and highway activity, safety operations and checks, field sobriety tests, checkpoints, or any other law enforcement duties for any circumstance in which they see fit. So, if you dont like being stuck in a checkpoint, or other law enforcement activity, give your license back to the DMV and walk! If driving was a RIGHT, the DMV, nor police couldnt take away your license, and the police couldnt tow your car for ANYTHING! The RIGHT to drive means you wouldnt need a license. You give up your RIGHTS ON THE ROAD for the PRIVILEGE to drive! Again, no one is taking a RIGHT from you, because you have no RIGHT TO DRIVE! Dont believe me? Go to the DMV and ask….they will tell you the same thing.
So, if she or a family member/friend gets hit by a drunk driver, do you think she will keep her mouth shut and say her friends or family members should be more careful? Of course not. She will blame the police for not stopping the person and protecting them. Obviously, she does not care for all the other HUMANS that have been hit and killed by drunk drivers. If the checkpoints are an inconvenience to you Ms. Cravites, then do not drive. There, solves your problem.
Exactly! Don’t like it? Turn in your license since its s privilege to drive, not a right! Get dome education Ms. Cravites!
