A drunken teen-age driver crashed his Jeep early today in Indio, and one passenger was ejected and died of his injuries, an officer said.
Officers received a 911 call at 4 a.m. about the crash, at Adams Street and Avenue 40, Indio police Administrative Officer Benjamin Guitron said.
The passenger who appeared to be in his late teens was taken to JFK Memorial Hospital in Indio, where he died of his injuries. His name was not released pending family notification, Guitron said.
A female passenger left the scene but ended up at a local hospital. Officers expect to interview her about how the fatal crash happened, Guitron said.
A fourth person may have also been in the Jeep, but that has not been confirmed as the investigation was ongoing.
The driver was arrested for suspicion of drunken driving, but his name was not released.
