Authorities today identified a 74-year-old man who was killed when his pickup truck was broadsided by a car at a Riverside intersection.
The collision happened around 10:20 a.m., Tuesday March 5 at Gratton Street and Victoria Avenue, according to Riverside police.
Florentino Martinez of Riverside died about an hour later at a hospital, according to the Riverside County Coroner’s Bureau.
Martinez was headed west on Victoria in his 1988 Toyota pickup when a man at the wheel of a 2009 BMW going south on Gratton struck the truck, which veered off the roadway and slammed into a palm tree, police said.
The intersection does not have a stop light, and traffic on Victoria has the right-of-way.
The BMW driver was not hurt, said Riverside police Lt. Guy Toussaint.
The circumstances of the crash remained under investigation.

Thank God this boy is ok and hope this driver if found guilty of charges gets a maximum sentence. No drivers license is ridiculous when its so easy to get one and keep one if you obey the laws.
