A man who drove his car onto a curb and became stuck is behind bars on suspicion of driving drunk, officials reported.
Maarten Jan Dejong, 48, of Rancho Mirage was his white Ford Thunderbird at around 9 p.m., Wednesday March 6 on Frank Sinatra Drive when he allegedly miscalculated a turn.
“The vehicle’s undercarriage became stuck on the curb and the wheels were no longer touching the ground,” Sgt. Wright stated in a Riverside County Sheriff’s press release.
Dejong was arrested and booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility on charges of driving under the influence.
There were no injuries reported as a result of the crash.
Anyone with additional information regarding this incident is urged to contact Deputy P. Mushinskie at 760-836-1600.
