Firefighters and sheriff’s deputies received a call at 3:17 p.m. Tuesday and went to the area near Sapphire Falls, where Jacob Daniel Hernandez, 19, had been hiking and rock climbing with his cousin, coroner’s officials said.

Hernandez was pronounced dead at the scene about an hour after authorities received the call.
