Coroners were working today to identify a man who was found dead inside a burned travel trailer in Imperial Beach.
A passerby spotted smoke billowing from the trailer at 674 Palm Ave., space 8, around 4:45 a.m. Friday and called for help, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Firefighters arrived to find the trailer engulfed in flames, extinguished the fire and found the man’s body at the rear of the trailer during a subsequent search, officials with the Medical Examiner’s Office said.
The unidentified man, believed to be 62, died from smoke inhalation and burns sustained in the residential fire, the Medical Examiner’s Office reported.
The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department investigators were working to determine the fire’s cause, authorities said.
