A pickup truck driven by a suspected drunken driver rear-ended another vehicle at a Rancho Mirage intersection, a sergeant said today.
Deputies were dispatched at 10:33 p.m. Saturday to Ramon and Los Alamos roads.
They learned that the driver of a Chevrolet pickup truck struck had swerved toward the right while speeding on eastbound Ramon Road and struck a Volkswagen from behind as it was stopped at a red light, Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. David Wright said.
The driver, later identified as Yovan Medero-Marin, of Cathedral City, continued east on Ramon Road but his truck broke down a short distance away, Wright said.
Medero-Marin, 21, was arrested for suspicion of drunken driving.
No one was hurt and Ramon Road remained open to traffic, said Wright.
